We’ve seen too many trucks come in after the wrong lift was installed somewhere else.
We are your advisor and your installation professional.
That’s why we start with a consultation. It’s easier to do it right the first time than fix it later

You care how your truck or Jeep drives after the lift
You want honest guidance, not sales pressure
Your looking for the cheapest option available
You want a cosmetic lift without caring about ride quality
You want a rushed install with corners cut
The Poor Man's Off Road Depot is locally owned and operated. We service the Charlotte Off Road Community and beyond. The Poor Man's Off Road Depot has been in business since 2018. We started building custom Jeeps but soon due to popular demand began customizing all kinds of vehicles.
We specialize in professional lift and level kit installations. Whether you use your vehicle as your every day work truck or off road rally truck, for mall crawling or rock crawling, mud bogging or sand dune jumping overlanding or camping. We got you covered on all types of Trucks, SUVs and Jeeps. Including Ford, Chevy, GMC, Dodge, Ram, Toyota and Many More. We have even lifted Lexus GX550s, Honda Civics and Sprinter Vans.
This isn’t quick-lube work and it’s not a dealer upsell.
It’s a professionally installed custom build with all parts properly installed, bolts torqued to spec and fittings greased. Plus, we will inspect your current steering and suspension components to recommend any parts necessary to ensure your safety and an alignment adjusted for your lift. It’s honest advice about what you do or don’t need to keep your vehicle rolling.
We’ll confirm fitment, pricing, and scheduling before any work starts.
We’ve been building and correcting off-road setups long enough to know that the wrong parts cost more in the long run.
We are conveniently located minutes away from 485 and Albemarle Rd in Charlotte.
As a part of any lift installed by us, we include a free 500 to 1000 mile Post Installation Safety Check to ensure everything is safe, beyond just making sure it is correct after installation, for you and your loved ones. This Safety check is performed by our certified technicians. They will make sure that all bolts are re-torqued to the manufacturers specification, as well as check proper brake function, steering and tire wear.
We include this service as a thank you for trusting us to be Your Lift Guys!
“If we don’t think your lift choice makes sense, we’ll tell you before installing it.”
Trucks, Jeeps, and SUVs. If it has a suspension and aftermarket support, we’ll tell you if we can do it.
We have installed lift kits on all kinds of the following: Jeep, Ford, Chevy, GMC, Dodge, Toyota, and Many More.
We have even lifted Lexus GX550s, Honda Civics and Sprinter Vans. It is best to come in or call us at (704) 910-1412 to discuss if your vehicle can be lifted.
Yes. We generally prefer to install components we source so we can stand behind the quality and warranty. If you’ve already purchased a kit, we’re happy to review it during your consultation.
Yes. If your setup doesn’t make sense for your goals, we’ll say so before you spend more money.
Absolutely! We provide detailed estimates before starting any work on your vehicle. We want you to be fully informed and comfortable with the costs involved.
Once we have all of the parts, most installs are completed same day or next business day, depending on the kit and vehicle.
We make sure the vehicle is alignment-ready and will coordinate next steps if needed with our alignment partner or a shop of your choice.
We’ll tell you honestly. Some lifts require changes, others don’t. We’ll confirm before you commit to anything.
No, it's just a planning session. If you decide to move forward with an installation we will schedule a date (sometimes it is the same day but that is just an option) for the work to begin.
Yes, due to the nature of off road customization, we find it best to keep all of our potential customers options open. We do not take a deposit that is only refundable when applied to a build. We believe in providing the best customer service possible and firmly believe the best way to do that is to take the time to help everyone enjoy their vehicles potential.
Just your vehicle and any questions you have. If you’ve been researching specific kits or brands, feel free to bring that information as well.
Most consultations take 30–60 minutes depending on the vehicle and your goals.
No. If you're not ready, we'll help you understand your options and you can decide later.
No problem. You leave with a clear understanding of your options either way.
We do our best to accommodate your schedule whenever possible. Sometimes, it can be the same day. It really depends on parts availability and shop time. We do our best to always complete our work in a reasonable timeframe. If you have any special circumstances it is always best to communicate this to your advisor.
We will help you understand what's realistic within your budget - and what if any tradeoffs exist.
Lift kits can affect ride quality — sometimes for the better, sometimes not. It depends on the quality of the components, how high the vehicle is lifted, and the size of the tires installed.
A properly matched suspension setup can improve handling and performance off-road. An improperly chosen setup can reduce ride comfort. That’s one reason we start with a consultation — to make sure expectations match the build.
As for warranty, installing aftermarket suspension components can affect warranty coverage on the parts being replaced and any related components. Warranty policies vary by manufacturer and situation.
We recommend reviewing your vehicle’s warranty documentation and, if you have concerns, checking directly with your manufacturer or dealership. We’re happy to walk through what’s being changed and help you understand what that may mean.
Yes. Proper alignment is critical after any suspension modifications. We include alignment as part of our lift installation process to ensure proper handling and tire wear. Alignments are performed by our alignment partners or you can take it to your own alignment professional.
Yes. Every lift we install includes a complimentary 1,000-mile post-installation safety check.
During this visit, our technicians re-torque all critical hardware to manufacturer specifications and inspect brake function, steering components, and tire wear to ensure everything is performing as it should.
We include this as part of doing the job right.
